At HynesQuinn, we are committed to providing the highest standard of training and certification, and in January 2002, we expanded our services by opening a Construction Plant Operator Training Centre just outside Longford town. This new initiative added a new dimension to our already successful portfolio of services.
The Construction Plant Operator Training Centre is dedicated to providing comprehensive training for various types of heavy machinery

• 360 Excavator Tracked,

• Telescopic Handler,

• Site Dumper,

• Articulated Dumper (Moxy),

• Forklift.

Our training program has been developed and implemented to meet the approved standards of SOLAS, ITSSAR, and The Health and Safety Authority, ensuring that our trainees receive the highest level of accreditation and certification.

Training Objectives

• Safety Awareness: Our program covers all aspects of safety awareness, including both theory and practical tests, to ensure that trainees are well-equipped to operate heavy machinery safely and responsibly.

• Legal and Statutory Requirements: We are committed to assisting trainees in meeting all legal and statutory requirements related to operating Plant & Heavy Goods Machinery.

• Ability and Training Techniques: Our goal is to achieve the correct level of ability and training techniques in order to operate Plant & Heavy Goods Machinery effectively and efficiently.

Course Curriculum

Our comprehensive training curriculum includes:

Theory

• Course Registration and Introduction: Trainees are introduced to the course objectives and aims.

• Course Material: Comprehensive training material is provided to equip trainees with the necessary knowledge and understanding.

• Operating Safety Code of Practice: Trainees learn about the relevant safety measures and best practices.

• Relevant Safety Films: Visual learning aids are used to reinforce safety concepts.

• Multiple-Choice Theory Test: Trainees are tested on their understanding of theoretical concepts.

Practical Skills Instruction

• Machine Introduction and Control Familiarisation: Trainees are introduced to the machine and become familiar with its controls.

• Daily Checks, Refueling Procedure, and Battery Maintenance: Proper machine maintenance and operation procedures are covered in detail.

• Driving and Steering Procedures: Trainees are taught the correct driving and steering techniques for the specific machinery.

• Load Weight Assessment and Handling: Proper load assessment and handling techniques are demonstrated.

• Moving, Stopping, and Emergency Procedures: Trainees are trained in the proper operation of the machinery in various scenarios.

• Practical Skills Test

On successful completion of both theory and practical training, each trainee will be issued with a SOLAS-recognised “Ticket” authorising them to operate the specific machinery they have been successfully tested upon.

Additionally, each trainee will also be issued with a Basic Skills Ability Certificate accredited by SOLAS.
